Meet the Melot’s

Creative Learning Preschool has been our home away from home for over 11 years now. Jenny, attended CLP as a preschooler, and graduated in 2016. Ms. Pam has served on the Admin Team since 2013, while Mr. Jon pitched in creating logo & other graphics the school needs. Over the years, we have treasured our time getting to know the families of CLP, and look forward to meeting new families! Under the mentorship of Dan & Rachel for several years, the Melot’s took over ownership & day to day operations of CLP in 2022.

Early Childhood Education is part of the family. Ms. Pam has served in Early Childhood schools for over 24 years, and Mr. Jon’s mom operated an In-Home childcare in CA, and now owns a preschool in Durango, CO. Our family has seen first hand the value and importance of early childhood education in our own experiences as parents of a preschool graduate, and observing others as well. We are entrusted to continue the legacy Dan & Rachel created at CLP, by fostering child/teacher/parent relationships, creating nurturing environments & cultivating child curiosity.

CLP is rooted in an environment rich in experiences that focus on language development, academic centers, social/emotional development, fine/gross motor development, & artistic expression. Our teachers are the heart of our school, and truly create wonderful opportunities for our CLP kids to grow & learn.

Ms. Ciara - Program Director

Hello, my name is Ciara Adkins and I started working at CLP in July 2020. I have worked with young children for over 15 years, both as a nanny and at preschool centers. I am very passionate about young children and want to see every child thrive. I believe that each child is precious and make it a goal to partner with families for the best outcomes for each child. I also believe that playfulness is key for forming positive relationships with children. I have an educational background in early childhood. I spend my free time making arts and crafts, hanging out with my niece and nephew, as well as cuddling up with my cat Ciely.

Creative Curriculum

In addition to our unique curriculum, CLP utilizes the Creative Curriculum™ as a foundation for all classrooms. The structure of our day, room arrangement, centers & lesson planning all stem from this learning philosophy.

At the core, Creative Curriculum™ for Preschool is based on 38 objectives for development and learning, which are fully aligned with the early learning standards for CO.  It presents knowledge-building volumes and daily practice resources in tandem, giving every educator the “what,” “why” and “how” of early childhood education. It offers daily opportunities to individualize instruction, helping teachers meet the needs of every type of learner. It addresses all the important areas of learning, from social-emotional and math to technology and the arts, and incorporates them throughout every part of every day.

Creative Curriculum offers daily, built-in opportunities for observation, helping teachers and administrators clearly see the strong relationship between curriculum and assessment. It contains guidance for working with all learners, including advanced learners and children with disabilities.
